Biscuit and the Great Fall Day by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

Who doesn’t love Biscuit the Dog? Even more so, who doesn’t love fall?

Biscuit and the Great Fall Day written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. (c) 2022 Harper Collins.

First, this is from the series of books called: I Can Read! This is an easy reader.
This little reader is about Biscuit being in an apple orchard with children as they are picking apples and gathering them into baskets for the farmer. Of course, in Biscuit fashion, he gets into some “trouble” by chasing a squirrel into a corn maze and then tipping over a basket full of apples that have been picked. Of course, the little girl owner is extremely forgiving and loves just spending time with Biscuit for the day.

That’s what it is all about, spending time with your pet that you love. And working together with a team of other children to get a big job done like picking the apples in the orchard. At the end, the children are rewarded with a hayride. Hayrides are a lot of fun. I enjoyed this book because I love the fall season and the illustrations by Pat Schories are beautiful. She uses a great fall color palette. The drawings are simple and not too detailed. The colors of the pumpkins and the apples are well done.

This book falls into the category of My First Shared Reading. There are many repeated words to
help the first-time reader memorize the words. Great for beginning readers.
